Silk screen presses are vital printing machines for much of the card printing industry. These presses support printing of metallic inks as well as post-lamination custom features. "Our new silk screen press with the combination air forced IR/UV tunnel dryer will provide us with a wider range of ink applications, increased throughput and a much higher quality product on special projects," stated Suresh Kumar, V.P. of Smart Card Operations. "We also utilize wicket dryers on some of our silk screen presses, but the Combi-AF/IR/UV technology will allow us to cure and dry very fast at low temperatures, and with very little distortion." "Our commitment to the card industry is evident as demonstrated by our continued investment in state-of-the-art equipment," added Merrill Martin, COO of the South Plainfield, NJ facility. "Our clients' diverse and innovative graphics requirements pertaining to silk screening have been increasing at a significant rate. Driving some of that increase is the use of silk screening in the area of card innovation. Upgrading to this new equipment will allow VCT to reduce delivery times on some specific card projects while increasing the quality of the printing of the cards." VCT now supports two silk screen lines in its NJ facility as well as two silk screen lines in its Downers Grove, IL facility, with a third silk screen line being added in Downers Grove later this quarter. |
